Founded by Bartolomé Columbus in 1496, the city of Santo Domingo was almost completely built during the 16th century. With stunning architecture, shops, restaurants, cafes and night clubs, the colonial Zone has a vibrant street life, incredible live music performances and beautiful parks and squares. It is also the hub of LGBTQI night life with numerous bars and night clubs to choose from. Special LGBTQI Events: • Gay pride event and concert: Takes place yearly, the first Sunday in July. • LGBTQI+ Film Festival: This event is held during the month of December.
